Abstract
The contribution principle has been part of the historic debate regarding universal health care in the United States. Since the creation of health care in 1935 to the passing of the "Obamacare" law in 2010. People opposed to universal health care have sought to validate the right to health care through individual financing. This article describes the contribution principle in health care, and sheds light on Obamacare's exclusion of illegal immigrants as one of the major challenges of health care policy in the United States.
