Abstract
The horrific stories related by the survivors of sexual trafficking, whether minors or adults stir the passions and are a called to action to policy makers and others who are involved in the anti-trafficking movement. Many countries around the globe have enacted strong anti trafficking laws and mandated law enforcement, prosecutors and victim's services providers to work together in an effort to eradicate this terrible crime. The United States, in addition to passing the Trafficking Protection Act of 2000, has appropriated multi-millions of dollars to combat trafficking domestically and abroad. Unfortunately much of this effort has been unsuccessful due to the poor implementation and lack of coordination at the local level. This paper will present a successful multi-agency task force model that is based on a "systems" requires all stakeholders to work together on a local and regional level in the kind of collaborative model that will help ensure success.
