Abstract
Human trafficking (HT) for labor, services, and sexual exploitation is a serious topic of concern in the United States and across the globe. Largely, the focus on HT remains in large urban areas, whereas rural areas across this country are vulnerable targets for this growing, profitable industry. This article provides background detailing the magnitude of the HT problem, its impact on communities, and the importance of nurse leaders' role in educating their teams to identify and address this emerging community health problem. This call to action challenges rural nurse leaders to work collaboratively to bring an end to HT in their communities. © 2018 Mosby, Inc.
