Abstract

Through several clinical accounts on children and adults, we focused on situations in which grandparents grant themselves a role of parents, whether concealed or not from the concerned children. Our publication points out two issues: - what are the consequences of such distortions of filiation on the evolution of those subjects? - what deep motivations can urge such grandparents to invest themselves in reality but more over fantasizically in a place not belonging to them? What fantasy finds a fulfilment in the reality? Mental consequences on grand children are variable and unpredictable. The "motivations" of the concerned previous generations make use of complex mechanisms driven by splitting and bereavement. © 2002 Éditions scientifiques et médicales Elsevier SAS.
