The execution of Francesc Macià alias Bac de Roda was, in the dialectics of war, a means of showing an example and revenge by the pro-Bourbon side but also produced desires for revenge by the pro-Austrian side which had a bearing on the killings in the immediate period and which led to the beginning of the mythologisation of the character.
