Nationally mixed people, defined as people whose parents were born in two different countries, may be said to have a plural socialization because of their parents' multiple national background. Language transmission in mixed families will be taken here as an indicator. Are there differences according to the country where nationally mixed individuals reside ? To answer this question, we conducted a comparison between France, the United Kingdom and Germany. Identity discourses of about one hundred nationally mixed people who were children of mixed couples show how they perceive language transmission. The influence of the migrant parent's itineraries and strategies for integrating - and of the mixed couple's offspring too - on the acquisition of the migrant parent's language will be analyzed. It will then be possible to distinguish between two types of transmission, high and low, and to compare the French, German and British cases. But, though these ideal-types are a help in structuring the analysis and understanding of what determines language transmission, the article will also consider the complexity of parental transmission. © Maison des sciences de l'homme.
