Abstract
Undocumented migrants, largely from Mexico and Latin America, are crossing into the United States in unprecedented numbers. This article describes a family nurse practitioner (FNP) faculty clinic in a residential facility for illegal aliens. It documents, for the first time, the physical problems detected in newly arrived illegal migrants, defines the areas most in need of enhanced health compliance (dental care, family planning, safe sexual behavior, nutrition counseling, and stress reduction techniques), and offers a model for effective, low-cost health screening. The information contributes to our general knowledge of the health-illness status of illegal entrants © 1994 Aspen Publishers, Inc.
