Abstract

The authors describe a clinical study of a group of refugee children suffering from traumatic reactions caused by wartime experiences. The historical and clinical dimensions of the DMS IIIR category of 'post-traumatic stress disorder' was used as the diagnostic basis. The games and drawings of these children demonstrate specific features which are related to this type of mental stress. Individual or group psychotherapy must be combined with assistance to both children and adults.
