Abstract

Authors report the case of a young caucasic woman with a wandering spleen whose pedicle was twisted. Such a patient presented with an acute abdomen, so a fast and precise diagnosis was needed. This is possible today, as documented in our report, with the ultrasonography and, first of all, with the color Doppler sonography. So diagnosis is easily made, and there's no need for arteriography or radionuclide scan. The subsequent surgical intervention can be prompt and exhaustive.
