Abstract

"The purpose of this paper is to study some basic structures of the Turkish immigrant households and families in Melbourne, Australia. Data for the paper were obtained from a survey of the Turkish population of Melbourne which the author carried out in 1987....An exploratory analysis of household structure of the sampled migrants not only offered a basis to develop a typology of Turkish migrant families but also became the initial step in discussing some aspects of the parents' concern for their children in Australia. Thus it was possible to address the cultural aspects of some changes emerging in intrafamilial relationships." (SUMMARY IN TUR) excerpt
