Abstract

The Haitians began moving to Montreal in the late 1960s and tended to be well educated professionals seeking escape from the political violence of their homeland. They were followed in the 1970s by a larger number of unskilled workers who had more problems in adapting to their new environment. The problems encountered by the immigrants are examined, especially those of racism and the struggle to find an income. -R.C.Medler
