Abstract
The 1980s have proved a momentous decade for migration to W Europe. Details of flows to a range of W European destinations are chronicled and attention is drawn to the rapidly rising number of asylum seekers coming to W Europe (104 500 in 1984; 201 500 in 1986). Children of immigrant parentage form a major component of cohorts of schoolchildren in many W European regions. -H.Clout
