Abstract

The paper presents the Eco-cultural Family Interview (EFI) in its italian version. This is an innovative instrument which can give quantitative assessment of the family ecology and daily routine based upon qualitative, ethnographic-like information. It has been first developed by T.S. Weisner and his associates (Neuropsychiatric Institute, UCLA, USA). For its special characteristics the EFI can be usefully used in the assessment of immigrant families and of their understanding and use of health and social services for babies and children.
