Abstract

The reasons, challenges and difficulties in preparing a program on mental health education for Ethiopian adolescent immigrants in Israel, receiving their education in youth villages, together with adolescents who are either immigrants or Israeli-born with economic or behavioral problems, are described. A detailed outline of a five-unit program entitled 'Feelings and What To Do About Them,' and an interactive discussion, is presented. The initial success of the program has led to consideration towards planning and implementing a more intensive and extensive program that could be helpful to all adolescents, particularly those receiving their general and social educations in youth villages in Israel.
