Abstract
Osteomalacia is known as one reason of stress fractures. We report symptomatic hypovitaminosis D in a 33-year-old African woman with multiple stress fractures and deficient mineralisation of the skeleton. We discuss different causes of osteomalacia and underline vitamin D deficiency because of low intake of calcium and minimal exposure to sunlight among immigrant women. © Urban & Vogel 1998.
