Immigrants from Turkey in psychiatric outpatient treatment [Immigranten aus der Türkei in ambulanter psychiatrischer behandlung] (Review)

Abstract

Susio-demographic and migration-specific particulities of first generation immgrants From Turkey in=1331 neard at the Psychiatric Outpatient Department of the Universty. Hospital. Basel were examinet. 65.4% of the immigrants weremen, 34.6% women. Women were significantly more often (p=0.01) an-alphabets than men and more often admitted as emergencies (p=0.002) 66.7% of the married women and 57.8% of the married men were sepasced from their partners for more than one year because of migration. Adjustment disorder was the most frequent diugnosis in both genders . Opiate-dependency was not found in both genders, and none of the womens were alcohol-dependens. The data are discussed on the background of socio-demographic characteristics of the Turkish immigrant population living in Basel and compared in studies made in Turkey.
