Abstract

The structure and function of the Swiss Medical Association (FMH) are summarized and important aspects of the medical care for the migrant population are presented. The relationship between the FMH and the Federal Office for Refugees (BFF) is highlighted. The FMH aims to facilitate the introduction of a confidential medical officer service which can be approached in particular circumstances. This function should be integrated in the asylum law.
