Abstract

The study deals with immigrants integration process in Western societies and the ensuing relationship between cultural and economic aspects. Receiving countries are inclined to classify immigrants according to their ethnic origins. This policy is bound to have major consequences not only on social but also on occupational level. Ethnicity deeply affects the labour-market and is responsible for a negative influence on the general integration process. Employment based on ethnicity concerns second and third generation immigrants too, in spite of socialisation patterns borrowed from the host country.
