Abstract
Mineral metabolism was studied in 121 residents of the Kamchatka peninsula (the coastal and tundra regions) aged from 20 to 60 years old. Pronounced disorders were found in the metabolism of phosphorus and calcium and sometimes a shortage of ferrum was observed. Differences between the aborigines and immigrants are likely to be due to different nutrition and not to genetic features of metabolism in the aborigines.
